Questions, answered

Will anything post without my approval?+
No. Every post waits in the queue until you approve it. If a post isn’t approved by its scheduled time it becomes Missed and never posts late on its own. An hour before an unapproved post is due, you get a Mac notification — and an email too, if you’ve set that up.
How do I set up a post?+
Make a folder in your Google Drive named for when it should go live — YYYY-MM-DD_HHmm, for example 2026-11-10_0900 — with a video.mp4 (or JPEGs for a photo or carousel) and a caption.txt. SocialQ scans the folder hourly and shows new posts for approval. Times are Pacific by default and you can change the time zone. Several posts a day is fine.
What if my Mac is asleep or off at post time?+
An approved post still goes out when your Mac wakes, up to 4 hours late; after that it’s held as Missed. If you’d rather not risk it, turn on Wake to post: SocialQ wakes the Mac 2 minutes before each approved post (it asks for your Mac password once to set this up).
What do I need to use it?+
A Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel), an Instagram Business or Creator account, a Google Drive folder, and your own Composio API key — Composio handles the Instagram and Google Drive connections. Optionally, a Resend key for email alerts and Cloudflare R2 for media hosting.
Where do my files and keys live?+
On your Mac. SocialQ runs on your computer and keeps your files and API keys there. It talks to Composio, Instagram and Google Drive to read your folder and publish, and to Resend or Cloudflare R2 only if you set those up.
Can I add music to reels?+
Yes. Choose a song in Settings and SocialQ mixes it under the video’s own sound before posting — you set the volume, start point and whether it loops. A per-post audio file overrides it for that post. Because the sound is mixed into the video, Instagram shows it under the name you give it, not as a track from Instagram’s music library.
What are trial reels?+
An Instagram feature that shows a reel to non-followers first. SocialQ can post reels as trial reels for a whole workspace or for individual reels, on accounts that meet Instagram’s follower minimum.
How many Instagram accounts can I manage?+
As many as you like. Each Instagram account gets its own workspace, and one licence covers unlimited workspaces.
Can my AI assistant help?+
Yes. SocialQ has a built-in connector (MCP) that lets Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools list your posts, write captions, approve and reschedule.
Is it really a one-time payment?+
Yes — $29 once, no subscription. Start with the free 7-day trial (email only, no card). One licence runs on one computer at a time, and moving it to a new Mac is self-service.
Is there a Windows version?+
Not yet. SocialQ is macOS-only for now, with builds for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
